Sweet and balanced, this coffee offers bright juicy flavors and notes of sugary raisins at first sip. A tart zing of bittersweet tamarind follows accompanied by creamy, buttery notes of caramel. The coffee’s rich full body is met with a complex finish, offering a vibrantly sweet cup from start to finish.

Grown and harvested in the Cubulco region of Guatemala, this offering is made up of coffees from various smallholder producer farms. Collectively these coffees are part of a microlot project titled Las Colinas, organized by our export partners. Meaning “The Hills” in Spanish, the Las Colinas name serves as a nod to the hilly terrain of Cubulco Valley. In addition, the project also provides technical assistance in sustainable farming with producers, including lessons in agronomy and business management. Field Technicians make routine visits to the farms assisting producers with measuring their crop yields, managing shade trees, plant nursery, replanting and pruning cycles, and aiding in long term sustainable farming practices. Guatemala has eight distinct coffee regions with unique microclimates and richly diverse flavors. The region of Cubulco, Baja Verapaz is centrally located and has only been producing coffee within the last 20-30 years, yet the soil is perfect for other agricultural crops has been a long standing practice. Situated just north of Antigua near the Sierra de las Minas and Sierra de Chuacus mountain ranges, the Cubulco region’s mild-to-cold weather and rich clay soil allow for the slow development of coffee cherries. Since 2020 we have been purchasing Las Colinas from our export partner Schoenfeld and we have been impressed with their commitment to quality.
