A chocolate-forward coffee that greets you with sweet notes of milk chocolate at the start. Hints of maple syrup and slight nutty notes follow, which leads to bittersweet citrus, similar to kumquat. This balanced, medium-bodied coffee comes to a slight lingering finish.

Story

We began buying coffee from AMPROCOL in 2020 after hearing about their organization from producer Delmy Regalado, from whom we also buy coffee. Located in the municipality of La Labor in Ocotepeque, Honduras, AMPROCAL is an entirely women-run organization that assists women entrepreneurs working in coffee production in the region. Standing for Asociación de Mujeres Procesadoras de Café la Labor (or Association of Women Coffee Producers of La Labor), the organization was established in 2007 to promote the sale of certified coffees from women producers. Growing from just eight individuals to about 134 members today, AMPROCAL provides ongoing entrepreneurial support to its members, such as microfinancing opportunities, agronomic assistance, and production techniques to improve coffee quality, productivity, and sustainability. In addition to helping its members yield higher incomes for their product, AMPROCAL focuses on promoting environmentally sustainable practices, including using organic farming and composting methods, and active shade management. We're thrilled to offer this microlot offering from the women of AMPROCAL and to showcase their extraordinary coffee. Enjoy!
