Mulled Coffee Recipe

Ingredients:

Spiced Simple Syrup
Makes just over 1 cup of syrup. Keeps fresh for 2-3 weeks in a tightly sealed bottle or jar. You can make the syrup ahead of time.
Peel from ½ an orange
3 cinnamon sticks
1 tsp whole allspice
1 tsp whole cloves
1/2 tsp grated nutmeg
1 cup filtered water
1 cup brown sugar

Mulled Coffee
Your favorite coffee brewed with your favorite method. I used the Festivity Blend made using a Hario V60. I recommend any sweet, full bodied coffee.
Spiced Simple Syrup (above)
Creamer of your choice, if desired

Recipe:

Peel half of an orange. I used a paring knife, but a vegetable peeler should work as well. Try to avoid peeling off too much of the bitter white pith that lies beneath the peel. Add orange peel, cinnamon sticks, spices, and sugar to a small pot. Add water. Bring to a gentle boil over medium heat while stirring to make sure the sugar dissolves. Simmer for 10-15 minutes and thicken syrup. Once syrup is thickened, remove pot from heat and let cool. Strain the syrup with a fine-meshed strainer and transfer into a well-sealed bottle or jar.

Brew coffee. View our brew guides here. Rinse your serving carafe or drinking mug with hot water. Pour Spiced Simple Syrup into your carafe or mug to taste. Add your coffee and give it a good stir. Enjoy as is or with creamer. Feel the warmth of winter cheer spreading in your heart and enjoy!
