With its full body, this coffee gives notes of tangerine and citrus upfront, followed by a dried fruit sweetness, similar to date. A bit of bittersweet chocolate comes through after, culminating in a lingering finish.

Story

Yacuanquer is a town located in the department of Nariño, Colombia and rests just to the south of the active Galeras Volcano. Despite sitting at the base of Galeras, the coffee harvested in Yacuanquer grows at altitudes between 1,900 and 2,200 meters above sea level. It is here where various close-knit, multi-generational family farms operate, making the region of Nariño a coffee-producing powerhouse. In fact, the many families that make up this remarkable coffee-growing area share last names. The coffee cherries for this espresso come from 23 different producers who work in the veredas, or townships, of Arguello, Tasnaque, and Zaragoza. During harvest season, these producers contribute their perfectly ripe cherries to undergo post-collection processing. The cherries are de-pulped, washed, fermented for 16-30 hours, and then washed again to remove any excess mucilage. After being fully washed, the green coffee is dried on raised patio beds for about 13 to 28 days. This meticulous process is what gives the coffee from Nariño such notable qualities. Known for its creamy body, this Yacuanquer-grown coffee offers sweet notes of dried fruit and citrus. Thanks to the hard work and dedication of the many coffee producers of Yacuanquer, we are able to offer this incredible espresso for the first time. Cheers!
