FLAVOR: Brown Sugar, Almond, Honey
FINISH: Slight Linger
This medium-bodied coffee is ideal for everyday drinking. Easy and balanced, this coffee offers notes of brown sugar and chocolate at first, followed by hints of almond and a honey-like sweetness. The drinker is met with a slight linger at the finish.
This coffee is brought to us from the town of Pluma Hidalgo, located in the southwest region of Oaxaca, Mexico. For nearly one hundred years, Pluma Hidalgo has boasted a rich history of coffee farming, though the way the coffee is farmed has changed dramatically over the last several decades. Traditionally, farming in this region was handled by a few large estates. In the 1990's, however, changes to worldwide coffee trade agreements saw the collapse of most of these plantation-style estates, giving way to the indigenous, independent farmers who now dominate Mexican coffee production. Pluma Hidalgo is almost entirely comprised of smallholder farms, most averaging just 1-2 hectares in size. On mountainous terrain reaching elevations of up to 2,200 meters above sea level, these farms showcase the region's namesake variety, called Pluma Hidalgo, a type of Typica that features a broad range of flavor notes and complexity. We hope you enjoy this offering, our first from the Pluma subregion.
