FLAVOR: Maple Syrup, Caramel, Plum
FINISH: Slight Linger
Initial notes of juicy plum and bright citrus are met with sweet notes of maple syrup and caramel, reminiscent of brûléed sugar. This sweetness comes through the coffee’s medium body which ends in a slight lingering finish.
This coffee is brought to us by Huadquiña, a coffee producing cooperative located in Cusco, Peru. Tucked away in the fertile La Convencion Valley, at the base of the Urubamba River, Huadquiña currently works with eighteen smallholder farmers from the surrounding community. The cooperative has been in operation since 1964 but due to difficult trade conditions in the area, Huadquiña remained a small operation until relatively recently. In 2015, trade routes opened up to allow for unprecedented growth in the region as the world began to recognize the high-quality coffee being grown and produced there. Known for producing coffees with remarkable stone fruit flavors and exceptional sweetness (similar to brûléed sugar), La Convencion Valley and the surrounding Cusco region has now made a name for itself in the specialty coffee world. The region produces bourbon, caturra, and typica varieties, all of which are featured in this coffee. We hope you enjoy this notable offering from Huadquiña!
