The Chire Washing Station is located in the remote valley and mountainous region of Sidamo, Ethiopia, approximately a 7-hour drive from the city of Hawassa. Ethiopia Chire coffee originates from the renowned Sidamo region, celebrated for its high-altitude farms and exceptional growing conditions. This coffee offers vibrant, fruity, and floral notes, often layered with rich, complex undertones. Ethiopia Chire coffees display distinctive sweetness, clarity, and depth of flavor. The Chire Washing Station works with numerous smallholder farmers, showcasing the area’s unique terroir and a strong commitment to meticulous processing—qualities that make this coffee highly prized in the specialty coffee world. Smallholder producers of Chire pick perfectly ripe coffee cherries and deliver them to the central washing station. Natural processed beans are sun-dried with the cherries intact for 15 to 21 days on raised beds, and continually rotated to ensure even drying. Chire producers grow coffee on less than 2 hectares of land, usually intercropped with banana trees for shade. This is our first year offering this Chire Natural coffee from Ethiopia. This exceptional coffee is the perfect Single Origin Espresso to kick off the new year.
