Vides 58 is a third-generation coffee producer based in La Libertad, Huehuetenango, Guatemala, one of the country’s most respected high-quality coffee regions. Founded in 1958 by Jorge Vides, the project began as a family passion alongside his medical practice and has grown into a vertically integrated, sustainability-focused coffee operation recognized for exceptional microlots. The flagship farm, La Bolsa, is now part of a seven-farm estate totaling 157 hectares, with 17 hectares protected as a natural forest and river ecosystem. This commitment to environmental conservation supports long-term soil health, biodiversity, and consistent coffee quality. Today, the farms are led by Renardo “Nayo” Ovalle Vides, who oversees production, milling, and export, ensuring full traceability from farm to shipment. Quality control is led by Jorge’s wife, Q Grader Jacqueline Ovalle Vides, whose expertise drives the estate’s precise processing and lot selection. This naturally processed Guatemala coffee was selected during our 2025 visit, standing out for both cup quality and meticulous post-harvest practices. Careful fermentation and controlled drying result in a cup profile defined by upfront fruit notes, a rich jammy body, and a clean, sweet finish. Vides 58 coffees consistently reflect the clarity, sweetness, and depth that Huehuetenango is known for, making them highly sought after in the specialty coffee market.
