Nestled in the beautiful region of Comayagua, the community of Buenos Aires has undergone a remarkable transformation. Once known primarily for vegetable farming, the community transitioned to coffee cultivation about seven years ago, recognizing its greater potential to uplift local livelihoods. Since then, the farmers of Buenos Aires have dedicated themselves to improving both the quality and sustainability of their coffee.
This particular lot is a curated blend of the finest coffees from numerous smallholder farmers in the region. Much of the coffee grown here is of the Catimor variety, prized for its high resistance to roya (coffee leaf rust)—a disease that has devastated crops across Latin America. This resilience allows farmers to focus on improving quality and consistency. With support from agronomists at our export partner, Molinos de Honduras, these producers are increasing their yields, investing in raised beds to dry parchment coffee, and beginning to cultivate other varieties such as Pacamara and Parainema.
Though the Buenos Aires coffee community is still young, its passion and commitment shine through in every cup. The coffee offers a rich and rewarding flavor profile, with notes of brown sugar and caramel, layers of bittersweet chocolate, and subtle fruity undertones.
We're proud to share this exceptional coffee from Buenos Aires—an emerging origin producing standout lots, year after year.
