India Gundikhan Natural is our first coffee offering from India since 2017 and is sure to be a standout. Gundikhan Estate is located in the Chikmagalur district and is a member of the KaadKaapi Collective, known for its wildlife-friendly coffee farming near the Bhadra Tiger Reserve. The Estate is owned by Saif Ulla, who is passionate about preserving native tree diversity and native wildlife. Gundikhan is located at 1300 MASL, which is very high for India. Higher-grown arabica is typically associated with higher quality due to the slower maturation of the cherries at cooler temperatures. This results in denser beans with more complex sugars and lipids, leading to a more dynamic flavor profile with increased acidity, sweetness, and body. Saif is also meticulous about processing coffees in the washed and natural methods. With this natural processed coffee, the coffee cherry fruit was left on during the drying phase, which highlights the coffee's complete and juicy body and natural fruit-like sweetness. We are incredibly excited to bring an Indian coffee back to Temple after an extended absence!
