Floresencia is a women-focused initiative organized by Terra Coffee in Huila, Colombia, created to showcase coffees produced by women while advancing empowerment and equity within the workforce. Centered in the municipalities of Pitalito, San Agustín, Oporapa, and Saldoblanco, the project works to increase visibility and transparency for women coffee producers. By supporting clearer, more profitable commercialization of both their coffees and complementary products, Floresencia helps open the door to a more sustainable market. To support quality and long-term success, Terra Coffee offers training in essential areas such as coffee production, business management, quality control, process standardization, and overall farm management. Each producer cultivates between 1 and 3 hectares of land. Harvesting is done by hand, with cherries picked slightly later than usual to achieve greater ripeness and a more complex flavor profile. Once collected, the fully ripe cherries are carefully pulped and fermented in small batches for 60 to 70 hours. They are then dried slowly over 25 to 30 days to ensure proper stabilization. We were introduced to Terra Coffee by our export partners, Mastercol, during our visit to Colombia last July. We are excited to offer this coffee as a single origin and to soon feature it as a component of our year-round, women-produced offering, the Lotus blend.
