Miller Walles Cruz purchased his coffee farm, Finca La Morelia, 17 years ago in Paicol, Huila. Originally a sugarcane farmer, he switched to coffee for a more reliable income, and the rest is history. Cruz, his wife, and son run the family farm and manage all its operations, including hiring pickers during the peak of the harvest. This is the second time we have offered their coffee; the first time was a very fruity lot due to the extended fermentation and processing. This lot is 100% Tabi, a coffee variety developed in Colombia by the National Coffee Research Center (CENICAFE). It is a cultivar created from Typica, Bourbon, and Timor varieties. Tabi was designed to be Coffee Leaf Rust resistant, known as La Roya, while still maintaining good productivity. The variety also boasts a nice cup quality with notes of fruit and floral, which is unique for Colombian coffees. We only have a small amount of this special coffee, so we are featuring it as a Limited Offering.
