The beautiful region of Comayagua is home to the Buenos Aires community of Honduras. Although Buenos Aires was once primarily a vegetable-planting region, the community switched to coffee about seven years ago after deeming it more beneficial for the community as a whole. Year after year the members of Buenos Aires put forth greater effort to improve their coffee production, especially since they are able to sell their best coffee at a premium. This particular coffee is an accumulation of some of the best coffees from numerous smallholder farmers from Buenos Aires. A large portion of the coffee grown in the area is of the Catimor variety, which characteristically yields a high resistance to the devastating plant disease “roya”, or coffee leaf rust. Although the coffee community is quite young, Buenos Aires continues to demonstrate the fruits of their labor through the final cup quality. Their coffee is known for exhibiting notes of rich brown sugar and caramel, bittersweet chocolate, and subtle fruity flavors. We’re excited to have this lot from the Buenos Aires community, a remarkable coffee that is a true delight year after year.
